Flog — Film Log
Flog keeps your photography on your device. Your rolls, frames, reference snaps, imported scans, locations, and notes never leave your iPhone. Flog uses Apple WeatherKit to fetch weather for a frame's location, and RevenueCat to manage your Flog Pro purchase. Notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking.
This policy describes how Flog ("Flog", "the app") handles information when you use the app. Flog is developed and distributed by Contrast Studio LLC, a California limited liability company ("we", "us"). We've written this policy to be as clear and direct as possible.
None directly. Flog does not collect personal information, usage data, or analytics of any kind. The app has no accounts and no sign-in, and we operate no servers that receive your data. Everything you log lives in standard on-device storage.
This includes your rolls and frames, camera and lens gear, film stocks, exposure metadata, notes, the in-app reference photos you capture, the developed scans you import, and any per-frame locations — all stored locally on your device.
Flog uses your device camera to capture in-app reference snaps (and optional Live Photos) of the frames you shoot. These are saved locally with the frame. The app requests Photos access only when you choose to import developed scans; it reads the images you select and stores them with the matching roll on your device.
To remove the background from a camera or lens photo in My Gear, and to match imported scans to the snaps you took, Flog uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. This processing happens entirely on your device — no image is transmitted off it.
If you enable Location capture, Flog uses Apple's Core Location to stamp each frame with where you shot it, so you can see your frames on a map and in the archive. Locations are stored locally with the frame and are never transmitted to us.
When location capture is on, the frame's coordinates may be sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve the weather at the time and place of the shot (see below). You can turn location capture off at any time in Settings.
To record the conditions a frame was shot in, Flog may request current weather for the frame's coordinates from Apple's WeatherKit. Apple processes that coordinate to return weather data; this is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The returned weather is stored only with that frame on your device. We never see it.
If you opt in via Settings → Notifications, Flog schedules two kinds of local notifications using Apple's standard notification framework: a lab reminder (sent 7 days after a roll is sent to a lab, to nudge you to follow up) and a weekly summary (sent Sunday mornings). Both are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device — no notification content is ever sent through any push service, and we have no servers involved.
You can turn either notification off at any time in Settings, or revoke notification permission entirely in iOS Settings → Notifications → Flog.
Flog uses RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and your Flog Pro entitlement. RevenueCat processes a limited set of non-personal data:
RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, photos, scans, location, or any logged content. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple — Flog and RevenueCat never see your payment details. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Apple WeatherKit is used as described above. No advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs are used.
Flog does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The only third-party data processing (RevenueCat) involves an anonymous purchase identifier with no personal information attached.
Because Flog does not collect personal information, there is generally no data for us to access, correct, or delete. That said, residents of California (CCPA / CPRA), the EU and UK (GDPR), and similar jurisdictions retain the following rights:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@contraststudio.app. For data held by RevenueCat (the anonymous identifier and purchase metadata listed above), please refer to RevenueCat's privacy policy for their direct deletion process.
If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
